Dr. Ellsworth has more than fifteen years of experience providing highly personalized, compassionate care. While he practices the full spectrum of cosmetic plastic surgery, he has become especially known as an expert in breast reconstruction and microsurgery. His passion for helping breast cancer patients has driven a deep commitment to innovation, outcomes-based research, and patient-centered surgical planning. Known for his warm and approachable demeanor, Dr. Ellsworth takes time to understand each patient’s goals and designs individualized treatment plans guided by technical precision and an artistic eye.
Dr. Ellsworth graduated with highest honors from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, and attended the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar, a prestigious academic distinction awarded to a select group of students. He earned his undergraduate degree with Distinction from the University of Virginia and completed advanced studies at the University of Oxford, where he studied music and literature. He received both his medical degree and integrated plastic surgery training at Baylor College of Medicine, one of the top plastic surgery training programs in the United States.
An accomplished academic surgeon and researcher, Dr. Ellsworth has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is an invited lecturer at the local, national, and international levels. He serves as Principal Investigator for multiple clinical studies, including breast neurotization outcomes evaluating recovery and patient satisfaction following autologous breast reconstruction, as well as studies examining the safety and efficacy of Motiva silicone breast implants in breast reconstruction and revision surgery. A devoted innovator in the field, Dr. Ellsworth routinely collaborates with industry partners to develop next-generation devices that expand reconstructive options for patients. He has also been awarded a patent related to dual-mesh techniques used in both breast reconstruction and aesthetic breast surgery.
A national leader in organized plastic surgery, Dr. Ellsworth has held numerous leadership roles within the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Most recently, he was selected from a national pool of plastic surgeon leaders to serve as ASPS Board Vice President of Health Policy and Advocacy. In this role, he leads efforts to protect patients’ rights and ensure access to coverage across the full spectrum of plastic surgery. He is especially proud of his involvement in the introduction of the Advancing Women’s Health Coverage Act, legislation designed to safeguard access to advanced reconstructive care for women for decades to come.
Dr. Ellsworth is Past President of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons and has served as Chair of the Federal Legislative Advocacy Committee, Vice Chair of the PlastyPAC Board of Governors, and as a member of the ASPS Health Policy, Patient Safety, and Finance and Investment Committees. Within Houston Methodist, he is deeply involved in quality assurance, multidisciplinary cancer care, and surgical leadership committees across the hospital system. He was also honored to be selected as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, the organization responsible for certifying plastic surgeons following training.
Dr. Ellsworth is married to Dr. Rachel Ellsworth, a colon and rectal surgeon. Together, Warren and Rachel share a passion for philanthropy and the fine arts. The son of an international opera singer and a lifelong musician himself, Dr. Ellsworth grew up immersed in the operatic world. His musical training at the University of Virginia and the University of Oxford ultimately inspired his pursuit of plastic surgery—a specialty that uniquely blends art and science. He currently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Houston Grand Opera, where he is Chair of the Studio Committee, and is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir. Together, Rachel and Warren have chaired numerous fine arts fundraising events in Houston, raising more than $4 million to support the arts and community initiatives.
Of all their accomplishments, Rachel and Warren are most proud of their three children, Isabel (9), Warren V (7), and Eloise (4), whom they love deeply.
