Community Support

Every patient is different. We understand how challenging it can be to find the right support. We’ve gathered resources based on specific needs and sub-communities. These organizations are not directly affiliated with BreastReconstruction.org, however, they have been vetted by our staff.

Broad-based Support

These groups welcome patients of all ages, stages, and backgrounds. They each offer slightly different services.

Support for Men with Breast Cancer

Individuals assigned male at birth are among the most overlooked breast cancer and reconstruction demographics. These support groups provide opportunities to connect and advocate with what can be an extremely isolating diagnosis.

Resources for Young Patients

It is devastating to be diagnosed with breast cancer or informed of a harmful gene mutation at any age. However, younger patients often have unique and specific concerns. These communities serve and connect younger people grappling with disease and risk.

Resources for People of Color

People of color face specific challenges in all areas of life. Unfortunately, breast cancer and reconstruction are no different. While we are actively working to close racial gaps in healthcare, progress is slow, and it can be extremely important for people of color to find comfort within specific support groups and resource providers.

Resources for Jewish People

Gene mutations that increase the risk of reproductive cancer are significantly higher among people with Jewish ancestry. Learn more about how your background may impact your risk level.

Free Products

Several organizations are available to help patients access products—like headscarves and wigs—that ease their cancer experience.

Financial Assistance

Breast cancer and reconstruction have deep financial implications that extend beyond the cost of treatment. Lodging and transportation during treatment, child care, lost wages, and more can create a substantial, lasting burden. Fortunately, there are organizations that can help cover financial gaps for patients and families.
