Case Overview
Dylan presented with invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast at age 33. He carried a BRCA-2 gene mutation and had a strong family history of breast cancer. While male breast cancer and reconstruction are less-discussed, male patients can and should consider reconstruction after breast cancer. Dylan underwent bilateral skin-sparking mastectomies and staged reconstruction to restore his chest contour.

Aesthetic flat closure with fat grafting
Dylan underwent bilateral mastectomies with aesthetic flat closure as a first stage procedure. Fat grafting was utilized to create a smoother contour as part of the aesthetic flat closure procedure.
Pre-axillary lipo-contouring and subpectoral silicone implants to restore masculine volume/contour
Silicone implants were placed to restore Dylan’s masculine chest contour and volume. Fat near the armpit was removed and reshaped to enhance the overall shape of his reconstructed chest.
Nipple areola tattoo
Dylan underwent 3-D nipple areola tattoos without nipple areola reconstruction to restore the appearance of nipples.
Decorative chest tattoo
In addition to nipple areola tattoos, Dylan chose to have decorative tattoos that reclaim his overall chest.
