Dr. Donna T. Bacon, a Professor in the Health Studies department at Nassau Community College, stands on the frontline of breast cancer advocacy as the founding Executive Director of Mid-Nassau Lend a Helping Hand. Her organization provides crucial emergency financial services that support women undergoing breast cancer surgery, treatments, and reconstruction. Dr. Bacon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Private Therapist, and Certified Thanatologist. She completed her doctoral dissertation—which focused on national health disparities—at Columbia University while undergoing chemotherapy. Dr. Bacon has dedicated her life to the education, empowerment, and health promotion of underserved individuals and communities. She serves as a Board Trustee for various community agencies. Her greatest joy is raising and uplifting her talented 7-year-old daughter, Reese.
