Dr. Randall Feingold is a plastic surgeon practicing in Great Neck, New York since 1994. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and specializes in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Dr. Feingold is a recognized expert in microsurgery, and is one of a handful of surgical innovators nationwide that routinely perform DIEP microvascular free flap breast reconstruction. This is the most optimal technique of abdominal flap breast reconstruction that sacrifices no muscle from the abdomen, and maximizes abdominal wall strength and long-term contour after surgery. Through experience with this technique, Dr. Feingold has expanded the use of this procedure for patients with a small abdomen not previously thought to be good candidates. He has also developed a minimally-invasive approach to this surgery that reduces operative time. Dr. Feingold teaches this technique to plastic surgery residents in two regional training programs, and has hosted visiting plastic surgeons from outside the region for live surgical demonstration. For his leadership in this field, Dr. Feingold was honored by the American Cancer Society with their 2007 Physician of Distinction Award.
Dr. Feingold has also been at the forefront of integration of new technologies in breast reconstruction. He was a Principal Investigator in the national Adjunct Study that resulted in FDA approval of the newest generation of silicone gel implants. He also has extensive experience utilizing both AlloDerm® and Strattice® in primary expander/implant reconstruction and for secondary correction of deformities after implant reconstruction.
Dr. Feingold graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Albany Medical College of Union University, and completed residencies in Surgery at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital Center, and Plastic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. He holds an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he is a member of the microsurgical limb replantation team.
Dr. Feingold has published numerous articles and textbook chapters, and has presented at regional and national conferences on a variety of plastic surgery topics. His work on DIEP flaps has been presented at the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Feingold has held two terms as President of the Medical Staff at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, is a member of the Board of Directors of the North Shore-Manhasset Physician Organization, and was Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at North Shore University Hospital in Forest Hills for ten years. He also practices at Winthrop-University Hospital and St. Francis Hospital.
