When will I be able to go back to wearing a bra or regular clothing?
Depending on the type of reconstruction you have and how fast the swelling subsides, you should be able to resume wearing regular clothing within a few weeks of your operation. If you are having any type of abdominal reconstruction, it may take six to eight weeks before you feel comfortable in jeans, or in any pants that have a snug waistband. If you have incisions on the breast that are still healing, it is best to avoid underwire bras, or bras that are made of lace that have appliqué on them. Many women wear shelf bra camisoles for months after reconstruction, to help with diminishing the appearance of scars.
